introduced by the Venerable Lobsang Gyaltsen, Resident Namgyal monk on September 23
This debut feature from Neten Chokling Rinpoche tells the story of the formative years of Milarepa, an 11th century wizard, saint and poet who remains Tibet's greatest mystic, and his journey from seeking revenge for a family persecution to seeking enlightenment. Filmed on location in the remote and magnificent Spiti Valley on the Indo-Tibetan border, the film's cast and crew consists mostly of monks from the Pema Ewam Chogar Gyurme Ling monastery in northern India, and a robust collection of Tibetan antiquities and treasures are seen throughout the film. "This powerful rendition of a traditional story... judiciously combines modern technology with simple natural means to create an otherworldly effect which is truly magical."
