Jerry Seinfeld lends his distinctive vocal and comedic talents to Bee Movie's star, Barry B. Benson, a young bee with a desire to leave his hive and explore the world, regardless of the bee mandate against venturing out of the hive. Dissatisfied with his options on the inside, Barry longs to become a "Pollen Jock," the bees that leave the hive to collect precious pollen and nectar. Despite the ridicule of the jocks, Barry makes it out of the hive and into the world for the first time, and the audience is treated to a visual smorgasbord of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. Much to the dismay of his family and friends, Barry befriends Vanessa, a friendly florist whom he meets by taking refuge in her apartment during a rainstorm, and, on a trip to the supermarket with her, discovers that the bees' honey has been "stolen" by the humans. He makes a trip to a honey sweatshop where bees are kept in tiny, compartmentalized hives and are miserably unhappy. After seeing this injustice to his species, Barry decides to sue the human race for stealing the bees' honey. Following an ugly court battle with a pugnacious and clammy lawyer (Goodman), the bees win their honey — but with dire consequences. The bees no longer work to pollinate plants and produce honey, and the entire ecosystem begins to fail. Faced with what he has done, Barry and Vanessa team up to make the flowers bloom again. "The film is nutty, ecological, antically funny, and moving, all at the same time." (Entertainment Weekly)
