Young Anna's (an extraordinary Nina Kervel) world is turned upside-down when her wealthy, revolutionary parents, Fernando and Marie de la Mesa (Stefano Accorsi and Julie Depardieu), decide to finally practice what they preach, and become deeply involved in the Communist movement in 1970s France. The family moves from a large French estate to a small, grimy apartment, and Fernando and Marie try to indoctrinate their children with radical ideas. Anna is not pleased. She struggles with her new lifestyle, and yearns for the normalcy and routine of her old life. The film follows Anna as she deals with the contradictions in her life, and shows the strain of change on her family. "It perfectly recreates the excitement of a time when many in the bourgeoisie forsook comfortable lives to dive headlong into radical activism." (NY Times) 35mm Cinemascope
