On the first anniversary of their father's death, three estranged siblings take an Indian vacation together to reconcile. The trip, on a fantastic train called The Darjeeling Limited, was organized by the fastidiously detail-oriented Francis (he brings along both an assistant and a laminating machine), who is recovering from a motorcycle accident that has given him new purpose in life. His brothers are grudgingly along for the ride: Peter, who is planning to divorce his pregnant wife, and Jack, obsessed with his ex-girlfriend. "It's a setup for a knockdown farce, as these privileged, narcotized boys drag their Louis Vuitton luggage from stop to stop, oblivious to the wonders of the Rajasthan landscape vividly captured by cinematographer Robert D. Yeoman." (Rolling Stone) "This is familiar psychological as well as stylistic territory for [Wes] Anderson after Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. But there's a startling new maturity in Darjeeling, a compassion for the larger world that busts the confines of the filmmaker's miniaturist instincts."
