If D. A. Pennebaker's 1967 documentary—from which this film draws its footage—brought a brilliant "fly on the wall" perspective to a shape shifting Dylan and his entourage, this collection of outtakes and performances is even more revelatory. Primarily, this is due to the fact that 65 Revisited restores the abridged performances of Don't Look Back, offering a number of full-length songs. Other highlights include an even more jovial Dylan, appearing subtly different from his earlier antagonistic incarnation. When asked what he will be "doing in the future," Dylan replies, with a grin, "sleeping—for 60 years." "A fast 65 minutes, 65 revisited is best appreciated as an extension of Don't Look Back, a kind of cinematic footnote."
