According
to alternative media source Deep Dish TV, "Shocking and awful is the way many
people view the current situation in Iraq and the United States. As the war
continues to takes it toll on Iraq civilians, international aid workers, journalists
and U.S. troops, we here at home are seeing how living in a state of 'perpetual
war' is effecting our own lives as well. The right-wing ideologues now in power
in Washington have attacked our civil liberties, our justice system, our communications
regulations. Those of us who do not believe the lies, who are not cowed by the
threats, who believe that building a just world is the way to combat terror,
need to speak out, need to mobilize, need to act to counter the waves of propaganda
and deceit that have dominated the mainstream airwaves." This evening, Deep
Dish TV producer and activist Dee Dee Halleck will present and discuss segments
from Deep Dish TV's 12-part series Shocking and Awful. Segment
titles include "Oil Power and Empire," "Globalization at Gunpoint: The Economics
of Occupation," and "Erasing Memory: The Cultural Destruction of Iraq."
